Cyclone ‘Seroja’ made landfall near Kalbarri, Western Australia on April 11 2021, a
town in Region B2 in AS1/NZS 1770.2. Despite this being a cyclonic region in the
Standard, there was considerable building damage as a result of lack of attention to
the high internal pressures caused when large openings are created in the building

Cyclone “Isla” crossed the coast of Western Australia on April 13,2023,at about
20deg S near the old northern border of Region D. (Note: The border has changed
to 19 deg S in AS/NZS 1170.2) Fortunately the path of the cyclone was mainly over
spaesely -populated areas. However, there was severe structural damage to a
roadhouse, some cattle-station buildings and solar panels (both roof - and ground -
